what’s “in” this season – the trend of trench

Posted on by

As in every spring (or autumn) the trench coat seems to be one of the must haves again. So it’s no surprise to find it hitting the stores now. Actually, a trench coat is something you should have for a long time. It’s a timeless garment that will definitely suit any silhouette, that will match every kind of wardrobe or style and that will go well with nearly any outfit. Even the price range is really wide; it goes from the very cheap to the most high end prices. There should be a trench for every budget and there should be a trench in every wardrobe :) I even saw a very beautiful trench-inspired little something that had see-through beige chiffon sleeves, yet the style and fabric of a short trench coat by Miu Miu today.

the challenge of finding winter coats

Posted on by

I just wondered why it is so hard to find good-looking winter coats. It’s not that I only searched for one this year, no, I’m trying to buy a nice one for ages. To be precise, for 3 years. I’m still wearing a real old one that actually could be sold as vintage by now! Well, not really but it feels that way…

I found a very pretty coat this autumn from Vladimir Karaleev. Even though it’s a very lovely cut, colour as well as fabric it just it’s not meant to be worn in January when temperatures drop below zero. Usually, I’m not even as fussy about thick clothes but since I’m at my parents a lot these days I have to have good winter clothes because they don’t live in the city and it feels way colder here. I suppose the shops do sell warm winter coats every season, I just can’t seem to get the hang of buying one of e.g. those. Really now, who told designers that those look good??

the tartan look

Once a year it’s usually all about the tartan look. So in fact, I suppose winter has really begun. Nearly all designers seem to be inspired anew by the Scottish pattern that makes us imagine misty worlds and romantic winter stories. Even though it’s a fact that it’s always the same every year I enjoy it very much every time. I really like autumn and winter in general and the tartan gives the whole scene quite the right touch. It’s the same with Burberry. Even though I like the line Burberry Prosum much more than the classic Burberry line, it just gives off the Burberry feeling and everybody has a picture in mind and knows what I’m talking about. The new Burberry seems to be Aquascutum though and is actually the new brand to have. They really do have nice trench coats!

Anyway, for me tartan gives of a Celtic, British lets-walk-through-the-woods-and-have-a-tea-afterwards kind of feeling. Well, all in all I hope you are having a time just as wonderful as I have when I look at a tartan garment.
