Crazy days

Posted on by

It’s carnival time and most of my friends are throwing partys – or at least going to the official events everywhere in the city. I really like this time of the year. Unfortunately the last years I couldn’t go because of my work. I had to work a lot, so there really was no time to party hard. Well, at least one day I came to work in a costume. That was quite a funny day at the office…

Well, this year I am free to go to any party I want! But now I don’t have costumes… I had to throw away lots of things last year – and so this year I have nothing to dress up. Although I don’t like going to carnival events without a costume I won’t have another choice. But it’s better to be there without a costume than not to be there at all, right?

Selfish present

I would love to see my boyfriend in a black leather jacket – but till today he hasn’t bought one. So it’s time to get matters into my own hands…

Good thing that Christmas is approaching – so I’ll see if I can find a cool jacket and buy it as a Christmas present. And I don’t think my darling will have reason to complain: a good leather jacket with high quality is not what you would call cheap… I just hope the prices won’t be too exagerated. As you can imagine I have to buy some more gifts for family and friends.

Well, I’ll see what I can do. But I’m quite aware that it would be wiser to wait till after Christmas, when the sales begin. But my boyfriend is worth it to spend a little more, so it’s okay.

Wonderful seasons

I really love all the sasons. There’s not a single one I despise (like so many others, that say for example things like “I hate winter!“). I like the beautiful awakening of the nature in spring, the hot summer days which allow you to go swimming and sit outside the whole night, fall with all of it’s wondeful colours and the fresh air, and the white winter world, combined with my favourite holiday: christmas.

But there is one specific thing about winter I don’t like: Going somewhere warm and then having to get rid of all your jackets, gloves and scarves. And then storing them somewhere. Your only other choice is to drag your stuff around all the time… This really is one thing I prefer about summer, when you wear a shirt and trousers – and that’s all. No storing, no problem.

Doggy style

What do you think about fashion for dogs? I remember the first time I saw it, I was quite frankly shocked. For different reasons: What are those awful dog-owners doing to those poor animals? How can they not see that it looks absolutely ridiculous? And how can they be so stupid to waste money for something like this?

Well, at least the last point is not really a valid question: when people like something, money doesn’t matter. And with time I got used to the sight of dogs with clothes. A friend of mine even told me once that there are lots of dogs that are really freezing in winter. So those dog-clothes are not just for the looks – but also for warming the animals.

Well, having all that in mind: The owners shall do what they want. The are worse things in our world…

It’ s raining, it’s pouring…

Today it’s raining cats and dogs. Well, I’m just glad it’s saturday and I don’t have to work today. Because honestly I don’t own clothes suited for rainy days. Because when it’s raining on a weekend (like now) I don’t leave the house. And when it’s raining on a workday I just get an umbrella and then I run to the subway or the bus station.

Of course this is kinda risky: one time it was pouring so hard that even my umbrella couldn’t protect me and so I arrived at work soaking wet. Luckily this just happened to me once, but who knows what the future will bring. So maybe it would indeed be better to buy some rain cape or coat. Well, I’ll keep an eye on the forecast and will decide later…

Rejoice!

Winter is coming. Although many people are getting sad that now the shorter, darker days begin again, there’s also a reason to rejoice: You can wear beautiful boots again.

Of course you can also wear boots in summer, but sometimes it get’s a little hot inside, don’t you think? So that’s why winter is the ideal season to go boot-shopping. I’m always joking with my girlfriends, saying: „Well, let’s visiting a boot camp!“ And don’t worry: That kind of powershopping we’re doing there is at least as exhausting as a real boot camp! ;-)

So, as you can imagine: I am looking forward to winter! But not just because of shopping reasons. I also like lots of snow, Christmas, hot chocolate and all those things you only do in winter…

Some like it hot

I was wondering why everybody was talking about Marilyn Monroe the last few days: on TV, on the radio, everywhere… Well, stupid me! Because it was on August 5th 1962 that she died. So that’s why there are currently so many documentaries about her life, her affairs and – of course -her tragic death. And it’s not just interesting to see what a big fashion icon she was, but also how many mysteries there are surrounding her supposed suicide. I’m really not a conspiration theory-believer, but what they were telling in these programs is indeed very mysterious

But also another thing aroused my interest: the fact that Marilyn Monroe was an absolute sex-symbol – without being a super skinny beanpole. For me that’s just another proof that sexiness has nothing to do with wearing size zero, don’t you think?

I proudly present…

Maybe we girls are more complicated than men in the daily life. But when it comes to presents I think men are much more complictated…

For example: if you give us flowers as a present, we’re already content. Of course we would prefer if our present was more personal and well thought – but with flowers you’re already on the safe side. At least we won’t be mad at you.

But making presents to guys? It seems the presents they like most are technical things or games. Well, that’s ok, but I as a girlfriend want to give my boyfriend something else, something more special.

Right now I’m thinking about that gift set hugo boss I saw recently. That’s useful and a little more personal than just another PS3 game. Or I’ll try it with flowers, too. Equal rights! (Just saying…)

That little extra

I love men in suits! Dressed up they are always so good-looking and sexy…

But lots of them don’t seem to pay attention to their cufflinks. Most of them use very traditional – nearly boring – ones.

That’s sad, because there are really cool and even a little extraordinary cufflinks. Of course you shouldn’t go over the top, like in that episode of The Simpsons, where Homer is forcing his future son-in-law to wear pig-cufflinks – at his own wedding!

But most men really should be more audacious and try to combine their classic outfits with some little highlights. So if any of you boys is reading this – don’t be afraid! Just do it and you’ll see how great you’ll look. And all the women will confirm it. Because we love men with self-confidence!

All eyes on Berlin

This time of the year the eyes of the fashion world are looking to Germany’s capital Berlin. Why? Because the Berlin Fashion Week is taking place right now there. And although there exist some critical voices which doubt if Berlin could ever become as important as fashion-metropolises like Paris or Milan, I think this event is a great idea. I my opinion everybody can create beautiful fashion – so why not give Germany a chance, too? And don’t forget that one of the greatest fashion-designers of all time – Karl Lagerfeld– is also german-born. Or think about famous designers like Jil Sander or Wolfgang Joop…

So let’s quit our prejudices and just enjoy the wonderful shows and colourful dresses that are being shown from 4th to 8th july in Berlin!
