Choose wise!

Posted on by

At the moment I am having difficulties finding the right shoes. I got some very nice summer shoes (from Fred Perry, just to give one example) and I got my super-warm and comfy winter boots. But I feel like I’m missing shoes for the time between winter and summer (some used to call it spring…).

I do own warmer shoes for this transition period indeed – but unfortunatley it proved that they have a very bad quality; and although they are not very old, they already look totally ripped up… Well, at least they weren’t too expensive. But it’s annoying nevertheless. Because now when I go out I always have to decide: looking sexy and be cold – or not freezing, but in change looking a little clumsy…

Rejoice!

Winter is coming. Although many people are getting sad that now the shorter, darker days begin again, there’s also a reason to rejoice: You can wear beautiful boots again.

Of course you can also wear boots in summer, but sometimes it get’s a little hot inside, don’t you think? So that’s why winter is the ideal season to go boot-shopping. I’m always joking with my girlfriends, saying: „Well, let’s visiting a boot camp!“ And don’t worry: That kind of powershopping we’re doing there is at least as exhausting as a real boot camp! ;-)

So, as you can imagine: I am looking forward to winter! But not just because of shopping reasons. I also like lots of snow, Christmas, hot chocolate and all those things you only do in winter…

shoes, shoes, shoes

Even though I do have more shoes than enough (yes I admit that much) I still have a look at the “shoes women” section of Office, F-Troupe, Tommy Hilfiger, Esprit, Zara, etc. really (like in r-e-a-l-l-y) often. I actually even find something every time I visit the websites! This might be because I search through a lot of them though. Well anyway, that’s the reason why I thought of selling some of those older “lovely treasures” at the flea market.

But regardless of how much of more space I’d like to have by selling them (to fit all my new purchases in the shelf) they are my lovely treasures still so it is actually hard to part with them to begin with. On top of that people at flea markets like to haggle about the price. I do that myself when I set my eyes on something but we are talking about my shoes, my treasures here! ; )

shoe addiction

I really like buying shoes! Well, I might like shopping in general after all event hough I didn’t like it that much… Well, I might not really the actual act of shopping itself but the feeling of being over the moon when unwrapping your achievements (rather prey than anything) of the day.

Some cosmetics here, some accessories there are really nice to buy but shoes are somewhat special. Shoes are even more fun to unwrap and even more fun to buy! You don’t have to undress and change as much as you would have to do when buying clothes and the effect of having nice, comfortable, high quality shoes is always astonishing. The shoes women wear really make the outfit no matter what simple clothes they are combined to.

new shoes

After a night out in high heels it happens quite often that once I reach home my feet are hurting and some blisters are saying hello. Especially when wearing new shoes this is a reoccurring, somehow regular problem. As I know what will happen beforehand though, I usually prepare a few things in advance:

Don’t wear your brand new shoes for a whole night out for the first time! Try to wear them only for a little while every day the week before so that your shoes can accustom to your feet and so that your feet get used to the shape of the shoe.

Try feet deodorant or baby powder to keep your feet dry. Blisters are more likely to occur when having warm and moist feet.

If you noticed specific areas in your shoe that don’t seem to soften up try applying some thin blister cushions.  It is a like a thin padded sticker that makes it more comfortable to wear the shoe. This works quite well for me. Or try to bend and therefore soften the leather with your hands. This works better when the leather is a bit damp. You could even wear your shoes at home with damp socks for a while. Let the shoes dry overnight. They should fit perfectly now.

If there are still some areas that hurt, try rubbing a candle on the area that keep hurting you in the shoe! This may sound it a bit strange but this makes that area smoother. Vaseline might work as well but I am always going for the candle, as it is somehow dryer.

If all this still doesn’t work and you got blisters anyway, throw your shoes away and buy better ones! J

THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKIN’

This season’s trend are definitely boots for women. It’s the number one item to have it seems and not only is it a look back into the 90’s which I like quite a lot, it’s also such a comfy trend! I do have three pairs myself and actually, I don’t want to get out of my warm boots anymore.

It’s actually a trend worth joining since it’s relaxing for the foot to walk in, it’s warm and it looks pretty cool and chilled out in a way. With thick and warm socks the winter look is completed and even in tights or leggings you wont ever have to fear the cold. I tried it and it’s nearly impossible to freeze if your feet are bedded in warm fur. So, my recommendation for autumn, winter and spring: boots!
